Unlike other refractive procedures that must be performed in a sterile environment Laser Thermokeratoplasty Surgery or LTK surgery can
be safely performed in a doctor's examination room. With LTK a computer controlled laser is focused on multiple points around the cornea. This
area is outside the center of the cornea where light rays enter the eye. The heat of the laser causes the peripheral cornea to tighten
making the central cornea steeper. As a result light rays are focused directly on the cornea.
