Bladeless LASIK Post-Op Instructions
 
Drops
  1. Use 3 to 5 minutes apart. DO NOT use them one right after the other.
  2. Artificial Tears (Preservative Free Refresh Plus or Systane): One drop in each eye four times a day, or more often as needed if your eyes feel irritated or scratchy. This is very important to your healing.
  3. Zymar: One drop in each treated eye, 4 times a day for 7 days. This is an antibiotic drop.
  4. Pred Forte (Prednisolone): This drop is a suspension steroid drop. Shake the bottle vigorously before each use (approx. 1 minute).
    1. First 24 hours: One drop in each treated eye, every 2 hours while awake
    2. Next 2 weeks: One drop in each treated eye 4 times a day.
Oral Medications
  1. Motrin:Take 2 tablets (400mg) three times a day (every 8 hours) as needed for pain.
Activity
  1. After surgery you should go home and rest or sleep. You should not drive a car or operate machinery immediately following surgery. Please wear your eye shields whenever you sleep for the first week to keep you from rubbing your eyes.
  2. For two weeks from eye surgery, avoid dusty or smoky places, hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes, the ocean, saunas, etc.
  3. Do not use eye make-up for two weeks after surgery. I recommend you purchase new eye make-up to prevent infection.
  4. Do not take more than 250mg of Vitamin C a day for 3 months after surgery.
  5. Use sunglasses that block 100 percent UVA and UVB (ultraviolet light) for the first year following surgery. UV light may increase corneal haze, decrease visual acuity and may affect your visual outcome.
  6. You may be wearing a contact lens after surgery. This lens will increase comfort and shorten healing time. Dr. Marshall will remove the contact depending on how your eye looks after surgery.
  7. Your vision may fluctuate for the first 1-2 months. You may notice some light sensitivity and/or glare particularly at night. You may experience a sandy feeling, a foreign body sensation, tearing eyes, burning and stinging, and these feelings will get better 24-48 hours after surgery.
