Dr. Sbarbaro is a fellowship trained cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery specialist. He treats a wide variety of common eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, dry eyes, diabetes, and macular degeneration, but also subspecializes in severe conditions associated with the front portion of the eye including keratoconus, Fuchs’ Dystrophy, corneal scarring, recurrent pterygium, and keratitis sicca. Dr. Sbarbaro performs most common ophthalmic procedures such as cataract surgery, pterygium removal with tissue grafting, and eyelid procedures, but also has specialized training and experience in LASIK surgery, refractive cataract surgery, and corneal transplantation.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois where his father was completing his cardiology training, but he grew up in Pueblo, Colorado. His parents still live there today. In his youth, he grew up snow skiing with his family and loves to ski with his 4 year old son Jim and 6 year old daughter Ella. However, his 2 year old son, Ted, refuses to even put on snow pants. He loves the typical Colorado outdoors stuff, such as biking and hiking. He also likes computers, electronics, and baking bread. He’s been married to his wife, Elissa, for almost 7 years.

I have just completed cataract surgery on both eyes. I had some trepedation about the process at first but I decided to go ahead with it anyway. The folks at Eye Associates have been great, especially Dr. Sbarbaro. After answering lots of my questions, he put me at ease and we proceeded. He is quite competent and you should rest easy if you decide to go forward with eye surgery with Dr. Sbarbaro.
