Contact Lens and Eye Glasses

Noticing changes in your vision? Wondering whether it’s worth it to switch from glasses to contact lenses? If you find yourself answering “yes” to either of these questions, then it’s the perfect time to call our team at Eye Associates of Colorado Springs for a checkup. Even if you aren’t noticing changes in your vision, you should come in at least once a year for a comprehensive eye exam. After all, your prescription can change throughout the year, and it’s important that you have the most up-to-date lenses or glasses.

Should I choose glasses or contact lenses?

This choice is entirely up to you; however, there are going to be pros and cons to both. It’s important to take into account your lifestyle and your activities to help you determine whether glasses or contacts are going to be most convenient for you. This is something that our team of ophthalmologists and optometrists can also discuss with you during your next appointment.

Contact lenses may be better suited for you if you are an athlete or you are physically active. Swimmers and runners may enjoy the convenience of wearing contacts versus trying to play sports and be active in glasses. Since contacts also conform to your eyes, this provides you with a larger field of view than with glasses.

Of course, if you find yourself feeling a bit squeamish about touching your eyes or putting contacts in your eyes then you may want to stick with glasses. Glasses may also be a better option if you find that contact lenses irritate your eyes, especially if you are in an environment in which your eyes could be exposed to dirt and debris. Your occupation may also strongly determine which vision correction is best.

Why not choose both?

Who says that you have to pick just one form of vision correction? Perhaps you enjoy wearing your glasses because they show off your style and personality, but you also want contact lenses when you go for your daily run or gym class. We understand the benefit of having both contact lenses and glasses, and this is a personal preference that you’ll need to consider. Plus, if you decide that your eyes just aren’t right for contacts for any reason, you always have a fresh pair of glasses to fall back on.
