Dr. George Ulrich, MD is a medical doctor/ophthalmologist who specializes in diseases and surgery of the eye. He grew up in Colorado Springs and completed medical school at the University of Colorado in Denver. Following medical school Dr. Ulrich was a Navy physician. His military experience included service as a medical officer in the Submarine Force followed by specialty training in ophthalmology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and fellowship training in glaucoma at Duke University. Dr. Ulrich completed a career in the US Navy and moved back to Colorado Springs in 2010.
Dr. Ulrich has been the lead ophthalmologist at CSHP/DaVita/Optum in Colorado Springs since 2010. His practice has a special emphasis on comprehensive ophthalmology, cataract surgery in the management of glaucoma. He is a well-known and respected physician in our community and has served as president of the Colorado state professional society for ophthalmology.
Dr. Ulrich is co-author of the definitive textbook on the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.
Dr. Ulrich is married. He has adult children and two grandchildren. He enjoys, hiking, skiing, golf, cycling and music.

My first visit with Dr Ulrich- Friendly staff. Dr Ulrich examined my eye and then made sure I knew what was going on with my eye . I then watched a short video after which Dr Ulrich explained what to be aware of in the future. Call if I have any issues and return in 6 months.

Dr Ulrich is an excellent doctor. But more than that, he is kind and compassionate. Because I had been diagnosed with AMD along with dry-eye syndrome, he explained which symptom was caused by which disease, and showed pictures of each of my eyes as well. After having cataract surgery my husband developed unexpected complications. Dr Ulrich didn’t do the surgery ( the surgery was perfect) but my husband vision dramatically declined and we wanted to be seen right away. I have been seeing Dr Ulrich for 9 years and he has helped me since I had a stroke behind my left eye in 2012. After the stroke, I was unable to control my left eyelid and I had double vision. He referred me to the correct doctors and my double vision is now corrected and I have partial control of my eyelid. If it wasn't for Dr. Ulrich, I have no idea what my eye health would be like now. He also did cataract surgery on both eyes in 2015 and I have had no problems with those surgeries.

I went from 20/80 vision in the affected eye to 20/10 in the 24 hrs after the surgery. I have been seeing Dr. Urich for years, although I missed last year because I was out of town. So we did a little catch-up, and reviewed my overall situation. I enjoyed his frank discussion of the issues and support his recommendation. He is treating me basically for glaucoma and tracking it carefully.??
