Dr. Minon Mitchell received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Nebraska and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University. She has been practicing in Colorado Springs since graduating in 2000. Her optometry school externships included the Ireland Army Hospital in Fort Knox and the Eye Institute of Utah which concentrated on ocular disease and refractive surgery. She specializes in primary care and welcomes patients of all ages. Her services also include fitting contact lenses and treatment and management of ocular disease.
She loves to travel and has participated in mission trips providing glasses to patients without access to eye care in other countries. She and her husband, Shawn, enjoy mountain biking, snowboarding, Scuba diving and taking road trips with their cat, Conan.

The staff at the front check in were incredibly warm and accommodating. I drove in from two hours away and hit a snow storm, I called to let them know I wasn’t going to make it in time, but somehow they fixed things so I could still see the doctor when I finally arrived! I've been wearing glasses since I was 3 years old. And I've been wearing contacts for 40 years! Needless to say, I've got poor vision so my exams take longer and more intense. I don't enjoy getting my eyes tested but Dr Mitchell makes it more enjoyable (yes it's possible). She and her staff were very patient with me and kind. They have no idea how emotional this process is for me as I am legally blind without my glasses or contacts and it's emotional for me. In the past I have cried after leaving an eye doctor's office but not here. I've been seeing her for a number of years and I leave less emotional and have felt cared for which is huge for me. This last time my husband had an appointment with her too but it was a half an hour before me. They didn't realize that they were seeing my husband too but connected the dots after I saw him in the hallway. He felt cared for and felt at ease with the staff which is huge for him and his health issues. Thank you Dr Mitchell and staff we appreciate you!

I rarely make recommendations, but this person. Is totally awesome at what she does! If you need a good eye doc in the Colorado Springs area that can fit you for any kind of contacts, included notoriously hard-to-fit sclera lenses, this is the one. I've also seen a couple of the surgeons in this group and they are fabulous as well. Just an all around great group of professional, knowledgeable, and talented people.
