Dr. Barad is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical eye care. He enjoys interacting with patients of all ages and is committed to the development of a strong doctor-patient relationship. He is a great listener and very effective communicator. His clinical practice includes comprehensive eye exams, medical and surgical treatment of eyelid disorders, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma. Dr. Barad is an experienced surgeon who has performed thousands of surgical procedures.
Dr. Barad is married and has 5 children. He is an active member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and serves as a volunteer ophthalmologist at Peak Vista Community Health Center. In his free time, he enjoys fine wood and metal working, amateur radio and electronics, engine building and repair, vegetable gardening, and vintage tractors.

I visited the Pinnacle Optical Shop as I needed to change out a lense in my Ray Ban sunglasses (Lenscrafters screwed up the bi-focals and prescription) and I knew I could get it done correctly at Pinnacle. This office operates with great efficiency and caring. I have never had a bad experience with Eye Associates, and Dr. Barad has performed 4 procedures on my eyes. I now have 20/20 vision!

I really appreciate Dr. Barad's taking time always to answer all my questions thoroughly and explaining procedures to me. I particularly appreciated the young woman who did my vision fields test as she was very gentle and encouraging throughout the procedure.

Making the appointment was easy. Most of the check in was done online prior to the appointment. Appointment reminders were provided. Minimal wait in the office. Everyone was professional and knowledgeable. A good summary of my eye exam was provided. I felt that I was in good hands.

I love my appointments with Dr. Barad because he is so clear and concise with his explanations. His answers are practical and helpful, but also I can tell that he has done his research and knows what he is talking about. No question is ever dismissed; he listens and responds respectfully.

This was the second visit my 87-year-old mother has had an appointment with Dr. Barad over a troubling eye issue. He is conscientious, gives a thorough explanation as to the issue and how to deal with it, and is really wonderful to deal with.

I was very impressed with this facility. The eye care that I received was very professional. I was treated very well by the staff, however, I had to wait in a long line just to check in. I cannot complain too much as I was there on an emergency visit that they were kind enough to get me worked in. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Scott Smetana and the treatment I received. Dr. Smetana immediately found the problem for the eye pain I was experiencing, explained to me exactly what his procedure would be to fix the problem and how long the healing time would be. Dr. Smetana is an excellent doctor, very professional and very gentle with his treatment . I recommend Dr. Smetana to anyone seeking a great eye doctor.

Dr. Barad has been amazing for my eye care. He has provided me help and information when I have had two injuries to one of my eyes. He has reassured me that the temporary loss of vision is due to migraines. He has educated me about what I can do to help keep my eyes healthy - especially because there is a family history of both glaucoma and macular degeneration.
